CURATORIAL WORK
My curatorial work brings together cinema, sound, and visual culture through research-driven thematic frameworks. I focus on creating meaningful dialogues between artworks, audiences, and contexts, always foregrounding critical inquiry and the preservation of cultural memory.
In my practice, I explore the intersections of cinema and conflict, archival engagement, sound studies, and interdisciplinary visual narratives. Drawing from both my academic research and independent cultural practice, I curate exhibitions and screenings that encourage reflective viewing, deep contextual understanding, and sustained public conversation.
My projects take various forms, including:
Film Programs & Screenings: Research-led selections for festivals and academic institutions.
Exhibition Concepts: Thematic frameworks for galleries and independent art spaces.
Collaborative Initiatives: Interdisciplinary cultural projects and research-based visual storytelling.

I am always open to new collaborations and creative partnerships. If you are interested in developing a project or booking a session, please drop me a line at info@niyatibhat.com with your project details, including the timeline and scope.
i gerdded afon | to walk a river
Curated by Niyati Bhat. 25 January 2026 | New Delhi
i gerdded afon | to walk a river was a curated dialogue between film, ecology, and music, marking my debut as a film curator. This project was born out of my time as a Charles Wallace India Trust (CWIT) Fellow in Aberystwyth, Wales (2024), where I first encountered the compelling work of artist aim king.
The Curatorial Vision
The program explored the act of walking as a deeply introspective and philosophical quest. In aim king’s 16mm river films, the journey becomes a way to move beyond gendered and ecological binaries, bridging the gap between nature and the moving image.
Highlights & Premieres
The event featured the India premiere of the documentary Trwy'r Llygad O'r Eog | Through the Eye of the Salmon, co-directed by aim king and artist Ruth Hogg.
- A selection of aim’s short documentaries.
- Music videos for WOMAN (Mairead Fagan) and if i could (ft. internet fatigue).
- An immersive musical performance by aim king, accompanied by Miriyam on guitar.
Beyond the screenings, we hosted vital dialogues with the artists on eco-processing techniques and the intersection of physical landscapes with the celluloid medium.

This experimental showcase was made possible through the generous support and belief of:
